COMMEMORATIVE WALL DEDICATION
15 SEPTEMBER, 2013
As part of the 80th Anniversary celebration, dedication of the Commemorative Wall at CCC Legacy, Edinburg, VA at 2:00PM. The third Sunday in September was chosen since it was the date of the former Camp Roosevelt Reunion. A small get to gather is planned for Saturday night at the local VFW. Motels are available, close by (3-5 miles). For more information contact the CCC Legacy office at 540-984-8735. Hope to see you there.

CCC DAY at the FT WORTH NATURE CENTER & REFUGE
Mark your calendars for March 30, 2013, 10:00am to 4:00pm, The Civilian Conservation Corps will celebrate it's 80th anniversary in 2013. CCC Legacy Chapter 123 will be a major player at the event. Members and the general public will be attending. With help from the FWNC&R, and the Friends of the Nature Center, we hope to make this a huge event, spotlighting the CCC and specifically CCC Company 1816, (1934-1937). We have a member of chapter 123 who served in Co. 1816, Steve Wingo. We hope he will attend.
As plans move forward we hope to have a large coverage from the news media, perhaps vendors, like at the Buffalo Boogie, and a proclamation from Mayor Betsy Price of Ft Worth, sharing with us, perhaps a visit from our CCC Liasion oof TPWD, Janelle Taylor. Contact is being made for a number of guests. The FWNC&R, City of Ft Worth, Friends of the Nature Center, and a major event of your CCC Legacy Chapter 123, hope you will attend.

80th Anniversary of the Civilian Conservation Corps

Texas Parks & Wildlife Department,(TPWD) is hosting a celebration of the 80th anniversary of the CCC at Palo Duro Canyon State Park, 6 April, 2013. There's only one 80th.
Plan to attend! Representatives and displays from throughout the state will be there. A list of activities will be published, when available. I know of possibly, TPWD, PanHandle Museum, CCC Legacy Chapter 123, Dallas Parks & Recreation, Ft Worth Parks and Community Service (FWNC&R) various vendors, a dance, displays, awards, tours, who knows! Sounds like it's going to be a large time in the canyon. Hope to see you there.

Monthly Meeting is held on the second Saturday of each month from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the North Side
Multipurpose Center, 1801 Harrington [North], Fort Worth, TX 76106. If you are using a GPS display, this address is
the FRONT of the building; our meeting room is at the BACK, off of Homan St. The door to the meeting room is
on the right as you approach from the parking lot, and will have a CCC sign on it.
Driving Directions: Interstate Hwy 30 runs east & west, and accesses the downtown Fort Worth area from the
south. Exit north on Henderson St. After a couple of miles it crosses a fork of the Trinity River and becomes State
Hwy 199 which goes to Lake Worth, and the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge. When you reach the traffic light
at the intersection of 18th St. NW, turn right [east] and go up the hill four blocks to Homan St. Turn left [north],
and go a block to the Y. Stay right and continue into the Center’s rear parking lot. If coming from Loop 820 North,
go south on Hwy 199 and left on 18th St. Our meeting room door with the CCC sign is to the right as you approach
the building. Our dues are $10 a person annually, effective from Oct. to Oct. Bring a friend & enjoy fun,
fellowship & food. Sign the register for you may win the $10 door prize.
MINUTES OF MEETING CCC LEGACY CHAPTER 123 November 12, 2016

President Pixler called the meeting to order at 11:02 AM.
The Invocation was offered by Steve Porter.
The pledges to the flags were led by Sgt-at Arms, Troy Jones.
President Pixler reminded the members and guests of the purpose of the CCC Legacy is to honor the
men of the Civilian Conservation Corps, 1933-1942 by increased awareness of their accomplishments
to the public, and to promote, sustain and increase membership of the CCC Legacy Inc and CCC
Legacy Chapter 123.
Reading of the minutes from the October 8, 2016 meeting were suspended, by vote, Motion by Steve
Porter, 2nd Troy Jones, motion passed.
A copy of the financial report was available for the membership. Motion to accept, as written by Troy
Jones, 2nd Steve Porter, motion passed.
There were no anniversaries noted. Birthdays for the month were Bill Stallings, 11/4, Claire Radi,
11/25, and T.W. (Bill) McKee, 11/13. CCC Boy, Bill McKee was present at the meeting, so the
membership sang Happy Birthday to him for his 97th. A short sick call report was given by President Pixler.
Under old business a discussion was held on the past events of the chapter.
New business brought the reminder of renewals of membership, and the importance of voting for
members to fill the vacancies of the Board of Directors. Some ballots have been returned to
Nominating Chair, Bill Stallings.
The program/guests portion was a chapter discussion of the CCC Legacy Bulletin, Issue #1, CCC Springtown,
Texas 2016, which is available and possibly will be made available as CCC Legacy Chapter 123 is involved with
A pictorial review of the Fall Chautauqua, 2016 at Mother Neff State Park was presented by President Pixler.
The next portion of the program was presenting CCC Boy, Bill McKee with his Proud to be a CCC Boy Pin from
CCC Legacy Inc.
Further comments by President Pixler included the announcement of Texas State Parks have free admission on 13
November, 2016 and the announced retirement of CCC Liasion, Janelle Taylor from TPWD on 30 November,
2016. More details will be available as become available.
Following the Pass the Can the drawing for the $10 door prize was held, with Tom McKee wining and
returning it to the chapter. President Pixler announced it would be used for his dues for 2017. A special
drawing was held for a small backpack from the Mother Neff SP Chautauqua, 2016. It was won by Bill
McKee's sister, Nell McKee Dowell.
The Kitchen Committee (Wanda Jones) served another splendid lunch. Steve Porter offered the
blessing and a fine meal was enjoyed by all.
President Pixler adjourned the meeting at 11:58 AM.
